{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Fly Fishing with an SUP (Stand Up Paddle Board)

I have fished and duck hunted from a SUP. While I had a blast doing both, I would suggest checking out something like the Hobie Mirage or the Native Ultimate line. Both can be paddled standing with ease but allow for a lot more storage. In my crazier college days, I took a 14.5' Ultimate down a class III and surfed a wave with it standing up the first year they came out. They're very capable boats.

Recently I've been thinking about getting an SUP, and using it for fishing. In case you don't know an SUP is basically an oversized surf board that you stand up on and use a long paddle for movement. There were first used by surfers, now they are gaining popularity in flat water, and rivers.  Some are even designed for fishing with more stability and ability to cary gear. The quiet approach and high point of view seems like it would be perfect for stalking fish like carp, or bass in shallow water. Of course I would not try to fish off of an SUP until I get comfortable enough. Anyone have any experience with them?  What are your thoughts? Is this a crazy idea?
