Perhaps I should have sharpened it even though it was new. Perhaps used more of the butt of the rod to put more pressure on the fish and hold the hook in more firmly.. I kept the rod tip low to the water, but it came out of the water anyway, not much to change there. Perhaps set the hook more aggressively. He seemed well hooked..until he shook it loose in the air. I was using a 6/7 wt rod with 7wt line and a bass leader from Scientific Anglers so I had enough rod to give him a fight. Think I'll make those changes and maybe keep the next one hooked up. Was going to release him anyway...but would have been nice to measure em and get a good look at him before he went on his way... I've not fished Little Senica Lake before, but I like it just fine..
