Spent the afternoon/evening wading one of the branches of Little
Senica Lake today. Had some luck using a black helligamite bounced on
the bottom in very short strips, caught 3 small LMB. During early
twilight, put on my Clouser Popper that resembles a from and hooked a
LMB that I think had to be between 3 -4 pounds, maybe more. After
fighting him a while, he/she manged to surface and shake the popper
out and swim off leaving me a bit pleased but chagrined at the same
time. Got a good look at it as it swam very close to my feet a couple
times.
I was tossing the popper onto the surface about 40 feet from the shore
not far from a point of cat tails. Just let it sit a while and made a
few light pops and retrieved it in very short strips with lots of
waiting in between...and that did it. Looked like an aligator grabing
a wilderbeast on the surface.
Poppers in the twilght, works every time...
