{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Gunpowder

Scott,

In reference to passage creek, its pretty much fished out.  I fished there in mid July.  I spotted a couple of trout in the mile or so that I waded, they looked really stressed and the water water was pretty low and warm so I am guessing you will encounter similar conditions now.  What i am trying to say is dont waste your time trying to catch trout there, there are a ton of rock bass, smallies and bluegill, but if you're searching for trout I would spend my time elsewhere.  You might want to try some of the mountain streams in the SNP area for brookies.

Hi my name is Scott and I am new to this forum. That said, I have an itch to catch some trout this weekend and was thinking of heading up to Gunpowder early Saturday morning. I was wondering if anyone had recently been up there in the last week or so to see if it was even worth the drive up from Arlington? Also, is there any other local streams within a 1.5 to 2 hr drives from Arlington that holding trout in this heat. (Owens Stream in Maryland, Passage in Va?)
