Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Sunday morning club casting

Okay, that sounds great!  I know where Fletcher's boathouse is -- been there many times.  Weird turn in by car, easy turn in by bicycle ;).

Do you cast near the parking lot (where the "white" house thing is) or do you go under the tunnel to the "boat" side to cast over there?

Thanks,

TB

TurbineBlade, the casting done merely on the grass, not in the water (unless you are working on roll casting or spey casting) as it is merely casting practice and instruction rather than fishing. John is one of the best and most knowledgeable casting instructors around, and his free tutelage will surely help your fishing.

Question:  do you guys usually cast from the bank, or do you take boats out for these Sunday outings? I'd be interested but don't know exactly where you are casting.

Anyone can just show up with their fly rod?  Even ones who aren't very good?  ;)

Thanks,

TB

I've seen several of these posts over the past several weeks and I am interested in getting in some practice/education along with my daughter but our Sunday mornings are taken up by church.  Any chance you could make one of these trips on a non-Sunday morning (Saturday, holiday) for us church going types?

I will be out casting at Fletcher's Sunday morning about 8 a.m., if anyone would like to get in some practice.

I will bring a few extra two handed rods with Skagit lines for anyone interested. We will review stages of the double spey.

For single handed casters we will continue working on loop control, and some ways to increase distance.

Temperatures shot be in the 70s low 80s and high tide is about 10:20.

As always if you have a question or anything specific you are working on, let me know.

 Hope to see you.
