Rob,
Let us know also if the dye holds up in water, not all dyes are intended for submersion in water and will bleed/fade quickly. I used to have a foam fly box that looked like a tie-dye shirt inside because of this. Having sourced many materials from non-fly shop stores in the past, I have definitely found some winners and losers. I once bought the MOTHERLOAD of tinsel in all kinds of colors right after Christmas when it was like .50 cents per hank at Wal-Mart. It looked and felt exactly like Flashabou. I later found out that it got brittle in salt water and snapped off quickly while fishing, but of course, not until AFTER I had tied about 2-dozen Deceivers and a dozen or so Surf Candies with it. Oh well, I still caught plenty of fish with those flies even without the flash, but I was bummed that my lifetime supply of tinsel was for not. So, keep us posted, and if it holds up, bring some to the next BEER TIE along with some of your bugs!!! (Next BEER TIE is September 10 by the way!)
