Check out tackleware.com.  I hope its ok to suggest that site on here.  They sometimes have some good cheaper stuff.  If its to high, id suggest Dicks.  They do rod/reel combos, their Berkly combos are pretty descent ones for i think about $50-60.  But its been a while since I've looked.  If your usin these for shad n stripers.  I wouldnt do anything less then a medium action, maybe med/heavy and 10-12lb line and personaly i like tall rods(over 6'5") but im 6'3", it just gives better action and better hook sets.

I haven't owned a spin casting rod and reel in years. I am looking for something that I can fish the Potomac with. Anyone have any recommendations? I am also looking for something for my kids. They are growing out of their initial Spiderman rods and could use something a little bigger but still need a small rod since they are pretty young (6 and 8). Thanks for the recommendations.
