{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Spin Casting Recommendation

The gold standard used to be Daiwa's Goldcast reels with oscillating spools. They handled line much better, so you didn't have to take off the cover so often and un-foul the line. They're pricier, running more than $50, but you can pair them with Cabela's Gold Label rods, formerly selling for $50, now available for $20, So for ~$75 you've got a pretty good outfit that should last a while, and which wouldn't be a klunker for you to fish either.

I also used to like the Daiwa underspin reels as a stepping stone to spinning reels. You can google that.

I haven't owned a spin casting rod and reel in years. I am looking for something that I can fish the Potomac with. Anyone have any recommendations? I am also looking for something for my kids. They are growing out of their initial Spiderman rods and could use something a little bigger but still need a small rod since they are pretty young (6 and 8). Thanks for the recommendations.
