I wanted to thank Dan, Miles and everyone else who helped put on the beer tie last night. That was my first time tying anything and it was nice to finally start my new hobby. Also, my daughter (Maggie) came with me and had a blast. I couldn't get her away from the beginners table so we ended up putting our own vise on the end of the table so she could keep at it.
Miles, thanks for your patience there. I think she had you putting in some overtime by getting the clouser minnow lesson at the end but I assure you that will get plenty of use and she will probably tie a million more.
...and not to mention the raffle where we took home a vise, flask(which will be faithfully kept in my breast pocket to help deflect bullets), and letting Maggie help judge the iron vise contest, and all the extra flies she ended up with. We are camping on the Shenendoah this weekend and getting her new fly rod out for the first time so now we have plenty of ammo!
Toward the end of the night Maggie was talking with Heather, who gave her some colorful tying materials to mess with. She whipped out some kind of clouser inspired fly (see attached photo) that was something right out of crazy town. The fly was reminding me of something but I just couldn't quite put my finger on it.....then I knew (see second attached pic)...Rocken Rollen!
