RE: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Trout Fishing on the Yellow-Breeches

Tom is a fantastic guide.  Next time bring a camera and ask him to take pictures, which he has done on many occasions.

Fly fishing guides take on many roles: casting instructor, boat captain, entomologist, emergency room techinician, pincushion, gourmet chef, psychiatrist, bartender, ornithologist, stand up comedian, ichthyologist, marriage counselor, and outdoor photographer.

Not every guide carries your gear, flies for you, your lunch, tippet and leaders, a spare rain jacket, AND a camera.

I'm going to write up a post here in a few days because I think there are too many people here that don't understand certain aspects of the fly fishing world.

Sounds great.  One of my favorite places to fish.  Sounds like you had a great day.  Only side comment is good guides carry cameras...shame on him for not taking a few pics.

I spent a great day today up on the Yellow Breeches in Boiling Springs PA.
The fishing was great.  I landed a dozen Rainbows and Browns and
lost/rolled a dozen more.
This was in the Catch and Release section just below the town of Boiling
Springs.  This area is about two hours from DC.

My guide was Tom Baltz, and I highly recommend him.  He put me on to
fish and coached me through the techniques of nymphing that river.
Without him, I doubt I would have caught a single fish, since the water
was stained and you couldn't see any fish.  It was hot out there, but
the fish were biting.

I wish I had pictures, but I was too busy fishing.
