A couple weeks ago, I got my girlfriend to take the Fly Fishing 101 and 201 courses at the Orvis store. I figured it would be better for our relationship if someone else tried to teach her how to fly fish instead of me... Needless to say, I was ecstatic when she asked me to take her out fishing today. We went to the Potomac just north of Chain Bridge - at the "landing pad." I tried a few different color combos for clousers, but no luck. I'm still pretty new to river fishing, so I very well may not have been hitting the right parts of the current. I saw a couple 20" or so carp, but couldn't get them to even glance at the clousers or a woolly bugger. We turned towards the eddies and "coves" and actually got a few nice size sunfish. My girlfriend actually even hooked into a 12" or 14" largemouth, but it ended up breaking off. The best part was she had a great time and made some great improvements casting. This forum has been great (as has everyone at the Orvis store), so hopefully I can keep learning more about DC fishing from you all.Jeff--
