Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Anyone interested in getting a kayak group together and trying for strikers this Sunday.

There are several of us on her with inflatable kayaks.  I am actually impressed by mine because I can set it up as a 1 or 2 seater, it is extremely stable, it paddles well, and it has a skeg for flat water that helps it track okay.  I actually think that my inflatable kayak is slightly more stable than a sit on top kayak.

My kayak is a Maxxon Cayman II.

There is another person on here with an Advanced Elements.  There are a few more people with different kinds of inflatables.

I have done salt and fresh water with no problems.  I launched off of the beach at the Outer Banks of NC on a favorable day, paddled different places in Oregon Inlet, but my main haunt is the Occoquan River (I live right by it).  I find it quite versatile.  This summer I plan on taking it back to the OBX.

As for the cost of the set-up.  My kayak came with 2 breakdown paddles, seats, a pump, and necessary equipment for $500 new.  I had to buy, additionally, a life vest and a leash for my paddle (the leash is not expensive at all but I highly suggest this).  I bought a portable fish finder (I want to switch my transducer set up but it works for now) for around $100.
