This may or may not be true regarding NSH, but one of the TDA (Texas Ag) guys who spoke about feral swine at the vertebrate pest conference 2 weeks ago said that if you want to NOT eradicate feral swine from a region, you start creating hunting tournaments and "bounties" for them :). The idea is that these opportunities essentially create a situation where there is now a reason (at least for some) to keep them around. Well, and also the "wanton waste of game" laws are problematic.
-- Clearly, management of these species is somewhat different -- I just thought it was interesting to think about.
I was hoping to do the NSH tournament this year! I've been out of town for the last 2, but should be here this year.

We have all heard that there is not going to be the Potomac Snakehead Tournament this year, however has anyone heard anything about the Snakehead tournament that happens at Quantico?

Subject: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} National Geographic Snakehead Article--Joseph Love of the MD DNR spoke with National Geographic in an article published last week about Snakeheads around the DC metro area. Nothing revolutionary but still good to see attention from such a global brand.Featured a rather graphic portion about the difficult process of "euthanizing" these abominations:"We encourage people to serrate it, remove its guts or gill arches, or decapitate it (the fastest way). To subdue it you can knock it on its head but you're unlikely to kill it that way because it has a very thick skull."
