Hi all, I'm new to fishing the Potomac. This is sort of on topic: I saw several dead fish floating just south of chain bridge on the fourth. One was a cat. Didn't get close enough to see what the others were. I was in a kayak. The river was pretty slow and there were bait anglers everywhere from the shore. The river seems to get a tremendous amount of pressure in the georgetown/fletchers cove/chainbridge areas. There was a person every 10 feet or so at one point. But I've never seen anyone land a fish from the shore as of this writing but I've only fished it a couple days so far. 

Is it better during the week rather than the weekend?

I've been fishing the Potomac since the late 1980s. The last three years have been by far the worst three years for smallmouth I've seen in that entire time.
