Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Camping at Switzer Lake / Skidmore Reservoir?

Don't camp at the reservoir by the stone wall (even though you'll see evidence of camping/fires there). There's a no camping sign, and I've seen law enforcement roll up at sunset and regulate on folks.

Also, there are a TON of bears around there this time of year. Seriously. It's a beautiful place to camp, but be careful. If you want to camp, camp by dry run or the concrete bridge a few minutes past the reservoir.

No overthinking Scott!  ;)  People camp both along the stream near the reservoir, and by the reservoir itself.  There's a huge stone wall near the parking lot that had evidence of camping the previous night, complete with pile of beer cans.

The stream right out of the reservoir is awesome and hold some very nice brookies.  I've never fished the lake itself, but it does as well.

Anyone have any experience here? How popular is it this time of year? So popular that a place to camp will be hard to find? I'll let discussion take over here, thanks in advance for any suggestions!
