{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Fletcher's This Weekend Without Sinking Line

Was going to add that you can even using lead trolling line and whatever else (t-14) to do the same thing.  Some of the spey guys used to use that for tips, and many still do.  

Of course, spey guys are basically shot after 2-3 fish trying to use a 14' lever against even a fall fish (which is what spey rods were primarily designed to target).  Most of those steelhead spey guys out west have had Tommy John surgery if you get to talking to them, but it sure looks cool to have a fly reel the size of a brake drum attached to your rod so you can impress everyone.

Hoping to head out with a buddy tomorrow for a little bit. He is a sporadic angler and doesn't have waders or a sinking line. Ordinarily I'd opt for the C&O or the Tidal Basin, but I'm not sure those are great options right now. Basically just looking for a chance to do some casting in pretty close proximity to DC with a reasonable chance of catching something. Would love any suggestions!
