{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Fletcher's This Weekend Without Sinking Line

Can you cast a 20' leader off of it with a weighted fly at the end?  Getting down is all you really need to do -- fast, full sinking lines just make it a lot easier to manage line and your fly.  A spinning rod with 6 pound mono and a few darts is about as easy as it gets if you aren't opposed to catching fish with one.  One day last year we were catching a lot of shad on fly rods while the guy next to us was doing even better with an ugly stick and some darts.   ;)

Hoping to head out with a buddy tomorrow for a little bit. He is a sporadic angler and doesn't have waders or a sinking line. Ordinarily I'd opt for the C&O or the Tidal Basin, but I'm not sure those are great options right now. Basically just looking for a chance to do some casting in pretty close proximity to DC with a reasonable chance of catching something. Would love any suggestions!
