The trout I was tangling with kept breaking me off on 5x tippet. I finally got things dialed in--both fly selection and playing the fish properly--and ended up landing 4 trout over several days of fishing for a few hours here and there. These fish were some of the hardest fighting trout I've ever had on the line. Lots of jumping, runs that took line off the reel, wrapping me up in weeds or on rocks, etc. Really strong and healthy wild fish, and both sneaky and spooky as hell. Wish I could have gotten a closer look at some of the big boys that broke me off.
