{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Bayse/Stoney Creek Trip Report-ish

So we took a family trip over to Bayse again last weekend for my and my daughter's birthday.  Most of it was for relaxing and the kids to snow ski.  My birthday gift was to go to Murray's Fly Shop.  2 main things to report:  Murray's and scouting, but not fishing Stoney.

Murray's:  What a great fly shop.  Got to meet Mr. Murray in the flesh and he couldn't have been more helpful.  What a great experience in getting flies, advice, books, and other items from his business.  I know many of you have experience with Murray's, and I will add my endorsement of his shop.  Mr. Murray was great and I should have taken his advice to fish that day.  Instead, we looked at property that day.

The next day had a lot of rain and more snow/ice melt.

Stoney (Big and Little) Creeks:  Gawd, they looked great.  However with the flow and the rise I didn't feel comfortable getting out there in hip waders in a stream I had never been fished before.  We scouted both Big and Little Stoney and there was next to zero cell coverage; didn't go up the Forest Road for Little Stoney.  On Big Stoney we scouted from Columbia Furnace upstream.  In any case, they both looked very fishy and can't wait to go back and get a fly in those streams.

After all this, I want to add that my hometown fly shop is https://districtangling.com/ and I'm sorry I haven't been in a while--still looking at your Botes and need some hooks for tying flies; saving some $s for a place in Bayse ….  Lots of love for the Arlington Orvis shop-just looking for y'all to have an Alexandria location.  LL Bean in Tyson's is great too, but y'all are all the way out in Tyson's, but still have my Shenandoah small mouth poppers!

Finally, thanks to everyone who participates in this group.  I really appreciate all of the knowledge and tips everyone shares.  I got back to the region in 2016 and this forum has been one of my escapes since then.

P.S. - Looking forward to doing some skinny stream fishing in the area.  Rob Snowhite, we should talk soon!
