We only had issue with locals on Kauai. One restaurant dropped off our food without staying anything, waitress just walked by and dropped plates. Never checked in on us, didn't refill drinks, we had to go to register to pay while locals were having the opposite treatment. Per Oahu, I fished from Alamoana Mall to Diamond Head and back several times. We didn't have a car. The beaches fill up with Starbucks drinking tourists...

I always camp when I go to the Catskills. Beaverkill Campground is close to roscoe and has sites right on the beaver kill but is honestly not that nice of a campground. Mongaup pond is up the road and is much nicer and is close to the upper willow. Can't tell you about hotels but there are a couple places right in town. It's been years since I fished with a guide in the Catskills but last time I did it was with lee Hartman....
