Totally agree with the Mossy comments -- she's a fickle mistress and can be totally unforgiving. Without any intent of Gauntlet grandeur, Kami and I tangled with Mossy this past Saturday. Literally. The moss devoured flies and the razor grass and brush loved to cuddle with our fly lines. That's pretty much par for the course there, though, so we were mentally prepared. We saw enough fish to keep things interesting all afternoon and evening, and managed to stick a few. Kami sight-casted and landed a nice brown. The Hex's showed up on our stretch but only for about 30-45 min. I don't have much experience fishing that hatch so I didn't really know what to expect or how to interpret what I saw. Kinda seemed like it ended almost before it began. Only a couple of fish keyed in on 'em before the bugs went away. Otherwise, the usual terrestrial patterns got looks from most of the fish we spotted and drew a couple of bugeaters out from beneath the weeds and undercuts.
-- Traveler's note: we took the scenic route to Bridgewater this time down rt 340. If you find yourself going that way, the Triple Crown BBQ is excellent. They are open from Easter 'til Thanksgiving.
