You should still be able to get some topwater action this time of year. Blue is the famous color, but I've seen chartreuse work well, as well as some bigger white/green gurglers. It's getting towards the end of the season, so bring some streamers as well. Your standard clousers will work (olive and white tends to produce well for me there), but one of my favorite patterns on the Shenandoah mimics a hogsucker. Murray's fly shop is a bit out of your way probably, but you can look up the pattern there.
