The "fly" wasn't a fly. It was a dart used by spin fishermen. Of whose ranks I've recently rejoined for certain situations found on the river during select weather conditions. See my recent post on this.
As a famous bromide goes "if it ain't chartreuse, it ain't no use". Or some similar limey/greenish yellow color.
