There a lot of good floats in the area. Most of them are somewhat close by.
The Rappahannock River have several possible floats. That is less than an hour south and it is in the area of Fredericksburg.
The Potomac River has a few floats. You could also put in at Riverbend and paddle upstream. I have done this several times and had some spectacular fishing. I am sure that you could also put in at Fletcher's Boat house during Shad and the Striper run.
The Shenandoah River has several floats as well. It is a very pretty place to fish and float.
