{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Ending 2k12 with a bang

The fly I used to get that guy was a shrimp pattern, but both shrimp patterns and crab patterns should do you well for winter reds. As for snook, you're better off chasing them in late March-mid November as they are really effected by water temps. They hate the cold (anything below upper 60s).  Redfish however will still eat as the water temps drop. I found most of my fish back in the mangroves and in deep potholes with dark bottom (which heats up faster on sunny days making it more fish friendly). Fish shrimp patterns near mangrove edges and under docks and drag crabs through the deeper potholes for reds. On the flats, most baitfish or shrimp patterns will kill for sea trout, ladyfish, bluefish, spanish mackeral, and others that are still chewing on the incoming, rising tides. Gotta love all the options in Florida!

Tight lines,
Remick

Hi all,

Just thought I'd share my last couple big fish from 2012. Big rainbow from Mossy Creek and a bull red from my secret spot in Siesta Key, FL. On the 6wt and nearly broken 8wt, respectively. Tight lines this year!

Best,

Remick
