{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Russian River, CA Advice Sought

I'm going to be in Healdsburg, CA later this month and was wondering if anyone had any information on fishing in that area. From my searching, it seems like we'll be near the Russian River. Is October way too early to find Steelhead in the river? Are there other areas near there to fish? Lake Sonoma?

Any recommendations or guides or advice for a DIY trip?
