Hey Spence,If you're referring to the Dam 4 float to Shepherdstown, yes, it is canoe friendly. I've floated it in a single seat "Colorado XT" pontoon rig as well as in a Takacat Inflatable pontoon. I had a prop on my takacat and there were some jagged rocks to mindful in that case but the current is nice, easy floating ordinarily.-Fish--On Fri, Aug 9, 2024 at 9:44 AM 'SPENCER NORCROSS' via Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders <tidal-potomac-fly-rodders@googlegroups.com> wrote:Is it a canoe friendly float?--SpencerSent from my iPadOn Aug 9, 2024, at 9:33 AM, _ Fish <tyler.a.fish@gmail.com> wrote:I've put in at Dam 4 upstream of Shepherdstown, WV and floated down to Princess St Boat launch. Great short float. Smallies and I've heard tell of some Walleye in the river there. You can probably float all the way down to Harper's Ferry and take out there if you desire.--Mvto!On Aug 6, 2024, at 10:16 AM, David Vazquez <david.j.vazquez.66@gmail.com> wrote:Hi all,I'm looking for a recommendation for a stretch of the Upper P to float in a couple of weeks. I've been doing a good bit of wade fishing in the Brunswick area and having pretty good success (including multiple good sized channel cats on the fly!). But I have a couple of buddies coming into town with kayaks. We'd like to do a float the week after next. I know Brunswick to Point of Rocks is a good one, but do ya'll have recommendations for something a little higher up? We're all experienced anglers, so don't need anyone's secret rock. But it would be great to get a rec for a put-in/take-out reach.Requirements: Within 1.5 hours of Bethesda, where I live. Mostly non-technical water (under class 3) or portageable. All of us have whitewater experience, but we're not going to have the boats for a real rapid. Other than that, we're open to trying any and all possibilities. Smallmouth are the target species. Not super interested in trout fishing this time of year, but would be open to the possibility for walleye, musky, or whatever.Thanks!Dave--
