Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} CASTING - SHAD Take 2 - Sunday 9 April

Regan, thanks for the info and hike up the Potomac.  On my hike back I found the net that belongs to the guy that left frost to get back to the boathouse.  I have it in my car.  He was already gone by the time I got back to the boathouse.

Shad-o-Rama or Shadpalooza however you look at it is coming, Sunday 8 - 11am.

Come out to the TPFR Casting Church on Sun, 9 Apr for discussion of the shad fishery in the tidal Potomac.

This get together will be a bit different. We will focus on getting set for the upcoming shad season.

We discuss fly rod set ups including rods, lines, sink tips, and flies, as well as how to cast all that stuff.  Casting sinktips with weighted flies requires some technique adjustments.

We will then take a walk up stream to show and discuss bank fishing for shad. No need to wader up and all, but keep in mind that we are hiking a trail that is not well maintained, frequently muddy, and once we get to the shore, the rocks are not accomodating for stable footing. Waders and boots definitely make things easier.  The weather is also not usually accommodating as well.

Note that to fish, you need a DC Fishing License.  Google search DC Fishing License.
