This is all super helpful.
Thank you!
Could much of this warm-water fishing be done off of a 5-weight?
Could much of this warm-water fishing be done off of a 5-weight?
I'm camping near Harper's Ferry next weekend and want to fish the Potomac what I can. I've heard the small mouth up there is pretty good.
But with my 5-weight - can it be done?
What kind of tippet do I need to rig on, or change my leader?
What I'm seeing on YouTube had a lot of sinking lines and weighted flies...
I'll give it a go either way but if you've got a pointer send it this way!!

I meant to reply to the entire thread, but ended up just replying to Owen. Dyke Marsh, over near Belle Haven Marina on the Potomac, used to be a decent area to fish for bass and sunfish. I would guess the snakeheads might be in there now too, it's been decades since I've been. It's a pretty straight forward hike in, but I would recommend going at (more or less) high tide.--On Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 2:46:45 PM UTC-4 dlaz...@gmail.com wrote:Lake Cook is stocked by the State in the spring and fall. Not sure what's in the lake once it heats up.4MR has fish. The south banks have a lot of brush so casting is a challenge. North banks are more grassy like with a steep slope to the water, but castable. A power piling near Mt Vernon bridge often has a small hole with a small bass or two. It can be easily cast to from the North bank.
