You might be able to search past messages, but building one of these was covered.
The best idea I saw was using cable ties for the fingers. You need drain holes anyway, so you put a cable tie through two of the holes and tighten it enough for the remaining tine to stick up. I don't know how many you need, but keeping the line from getting tangled (either in the basket or at your feet) will save you a lot of time on the water.

I would just buy a solid rubbermaid tub and about a 36" bungee strap (or 2 smaller ones) and away you go. You can insert various "fingers" through the bottom, but that's up to you.--Nedak once confessed to me at Whitlows (while sitting on a barstool) that he a did a nickel in Memphis for B and E.....so keep that in mind when he says "borrow from CVS".TB

Line tangled around your legs is no fun.If you didn't bring one, I have heard people borrowing baskets from CVS or WalMart and using them. It's what I have heard, no firsthand knowledge.

I'll be staying near Jones Beach, so that's the first area I might try to wet a line, but I have no real idea about Long Island and or fishing in the sea. I plan on bringing my 8 weight and my bass box, so mostly clousers, streamers ect.Never fly fished in the ocean, so any tips/pointers/locations/ideas/FLIES/ is incredibly helpful. Would be happy to hook into any fish. Thanks.
