Monday I took the opportunity to enjoy a day brook trout fishing in the SNP. I decided to hit the Rose River near Syria ,Va for the day. Got there and start fishing around 10:30. The weather was great but the fishing started off slow. Figured I would nymph for a while until I saw some bug activity or rising fish. Nothing happened till the water warmed up around 2:00 then I started getting into them on the top. Not a banner day but enough to make the outing fun. I was parked at the bottom of the trail-head and hiked up river from the bottom. On the way out around 4:00 pm I met a guy at the parking lot who said he was studying medicine at GW and let him know about the TPFR club and beer tie. He left and I was about to get in my car when a family of 5 walked out at the bottom of the trail with know idea where they were, totally lost. It took them 4 hrs to walk the 6.5 mi. down to me and only had 2.5 hrs of daylight to get back up. No way !!! I was the only one left in the parking lot. Have you ever felt like you must have been put in a situation by some high order being? I could have gone to any number of rivers to fish. Only thing to do was to load them up in the Subaru and drive them 45 miles around to the park entrance and to there car which was parked up on skyline drive. Needles to say they were very thankful. Sometimes you go for the fishing, but wind up involved in other stuff. Makes for good life stories.
