{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Dragons are REAL!

Nice fish.  I fished the west branch of the Chippewa on Monday above Moose Lake and it was awesome.  Really nice country up there.

Last Thursday, my brother and I had the pleasure of spending a day on the water fishing for musky with Musky Country Outfitters guide Weston Thier. We spent the morning fishing Mason Lake in Winter, Wisconsin. And, while it's a super fishy looking body of water, we only saw 1 fish after about 4 hours of fishing...but was a 38" pure musky that my brother landed! We saw it in the weeds chasing bait fish. I threw a cast at it, but no luck. Then my brother threw and cast and it took on the second or third strip! The first musky that either of us had ever seen:

After Mason lake, we drove about 40 minutes to a section of the Chippewa River. Almost immediately, I had a follow... but the sky was overcast and the water was so dark that I never even saw the fish until it broke the surface of the water just under my fly after I finished my oval and picked the fly up to re-cast! I got the fly right back in the water, but never saw that fish again. We saw a few more fish busting bait, but couldn't tempt any to take our flies.

After about 2 hours of fishing, I cast to a juicy looking point with some weeds and was immediately hooked up! 25" Tiger musky, in the boat!

Overall it was a great trip, and I would absolutely recommend a trip with Musky Country Outfitters! They provided us with breakfast, lunch, and all the gear that we used. If you're ever in that area, do yourself a favor and set up a trip! Even if you aren't - it's worth it to go out of your way to do a trip with them!
