If there's a strong NW wind, it commonly empties at low tide. At the outfall there is nearly always *some water with a few fish, even with the entire thing empty. One day it was quite murky, but still productive as tide dropped. I've probably fished it 9-10 times in the last several weeks and have found the usual gang of 100 small bass (LMB and SMB) and sunfish and have had several "stand there and pull out as...

Run, do not walk, to your local fly shop for the most recent Eastern Fly Fishing, which has an informative article on DIY fishing this area by yours truly. Do not buy the magazine, because if I told you to buy it this would be a commercial post. But definitely read it. There was also a good article about the area in the next-most-recent issue, so read both if you can. As for camping, if you are retired military you might be able...

The savage is beautiful and I wished I fished it more. It's very challenging and it feels good to hook a brown trout there. I once destroyed the fish in that 7X glide.
