{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Where to fish after the rain?

potomac levels are currently ok. The rise doesn't happen immediately, anyway. Hit it at low tide. there are plenty of spots near chain bridge you don't need to really wade, so long as you don't mind scrambling over some rocks. Alternatively, rent a boat from fletchers and head up river. When the flow is strong youll have a much easier time in a canoe than in a raft, provided your comfortable anchoring a canoe etc. in strong current.

Whoops -- I had more.  If it rains hard I usually avoid fishing because it's more hassle than it's worth.  Big streams might rise too high for safe wading, and small streams tend to wash out.

Just be careful if you decide to head out!

The day after it rains really hard I usually just sit on the couch and strip the fly line off my reels, and then wind it back on evenly and under good tension.  The cats usually chase it lot.

Tomorrow I am supposed to go fishing with a friend.  He received a new rod for Christmas and he has yet to use it.

Originally we were going to go down to the Rappahannock River and try to catch some shad.  My concerns are that the river levels should rise due to the rain today.  The Rappahannock is a dangerous river when the water is high.

Does anyone have a good suggestion of a place to fish after rain has come?
