{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} New to fly fishing the Potomac. Suggestions?

Hi- I'm new to fly fishing around here and I was thinking of heading out this weekend, and I'm looking for the collective wisdom of the group to help on where to go. The one restriction I'm working with is that I can't really go wading. My waders aren't here, and having grown up in the area, I'm well aware of the reputation of the Potomac for drowning people.

I'm in McLean and was thinking about heading to River Bend park but that's only because I've been there before (not for fishing).

Any advice you all have on where to go, what hatch, etc., would be very appreciated.
