Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Advice on Lake Ontario salmon guides, fishing, etc.
Jay Peck does both lake-run browns on the west end tribs of Lake Ontario and salmon/steelhead on the Salmon River. Not sure of his plan for this year, but he typically starts with the browns in September and moves to the Salmon River when the steelhead enter. He has other guides working the salmon run. ——————On Aug 31, 2022, at 13:53, Peter Brookes <brookesoutdoors@gmail.com> wrote:Thanks so much! Very helpful!Yeah,...

Thanks so much! Very helpful!Yeah, I'm talking about the Lake O tribs…have done a number of steelhead trips on the Lake E tribs so wanted to give the Lake O side and salmon a try…maybe even Lake-run Browns.Since time is tight, I'm looking for a guide, who can often provide the shortest distance between your fly and the fish.PeteOn Wed, Aug 31, 2022 at 9:19 AM Yambag Nelson <northstreetwreckingcrew@gmail.com> wrote:Where...

Where are you wanting to fish? If the Salmon River, early-mid September is best if you want fresh fish and less crowds. They usually do a release labor day weekend which often triggers fish to enter the river. I would fish the douglaston that time of year. The earlier in September you go the fewer fish will be around, but the ones that are there will be fresh and willing to actually eat a fly. Crowds will also be the...

Smallmouth congregate in deep holes along the breaks in the summer. CK Baitfish fished deep on a long leader works. Just remember – crayfish swim downstream and across stream, and they crawl upstream. Make sure to remember that when fishing them. The Clousers should've worked though. I hit Seneca Breaks this weekend w/ my daughter :-)I was throwing some clousers and an artic-streamer and she had jointed rapala and a mepps black fury.Nada-zip-zilch. I would expect a whack from a 3" suicide smallie, but nooooo!Saw a suface blow-up with bait showering. I worked my way over carefully and swung through- no one home.Super-fishy looking spot, but I confess we didn't see or move anything. Not even panfish.Love to...
