Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} June 15-20 Chatham MA

Wow am I jealous- I just got back from a few days on the cape and the fishing is picking up for sure! I have spent a lot of time down there but never reaaally fished the Chatham area - although it is productive. If you are willing to travel I can instruct you on some productive areas in Orleans, Sandwhich, and Brewster. The flats fishing...

Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Fish Lake, UT

I haven't fished Fish Lake, but most of those lakes are deep and trolling (by hand or motor, fly or conventional tackle) is the productive way to fish. But I would definitely find some forest service roads that follow a creek and just find a place to fish these smaller creeks for trout in moving water.  Runnoff should be over by then given the drought they had down there.  If you want to explore the forest...

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Trip Report - North Branch Potomac River - Memorial Day Weekend 2018

Spent this past weekend fishing the Savage and floating the North Branch Potomac with some fellow TPFRers and friends.  Arrived on Friday evening and fished from 7:30 pm until dark and landed a nice brown trout.  On Saturday we floated Westernport to McCoole with flows hovering around 950 cfs.  We caught fish on double nymph...

Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} June 15-20 Chatham MA

You can't get directly to Monomoy Island yourself. You have to either hire a guide or get a boat taxi. It's been too long since I've lived there, so not sure who's operating anymore. For flies, all you really need are chartreuse and white clousers and sand eel patterns for the stripers. An intermediate line would be ideal, but if you don't have it, float will work for Monomoy flats with heavier flies. Bring the sink tips anyway....

If you're in Chatham on June 19, I highly recommend checking out the public hearing that is being held at the Chatham Community Center (6-8pm, 702 Main Street). They are considering proposed rules for the Atlantic herring fishery that will have a big impact on stripers, bluefish, and others including river herring and shad.Cape Cod Fishermen's Alliance has a good primer: http://capecodfishermen.org/images/documents/Campaign_Materials/HERRING_BUFFER_ZONE_FLYER_4_reduced.pdf.And...

Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} June 15-20 Chatham MA

Has anyone fly fished in Chatham MA in June? My research on the area showed that Monomoy Island for sight fishing the flats is good there.  I am hoping if someone would have some information on: where to go (what spots to hit) what to flies work for that time (I think stripers would be in at that time), is it only floating lines or should I bring sinking tips.  Contact info on good guides. I would much...

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} This weekend in SNP

Haven't been to the park recently but I hit up a few streams in the national forest over the weekend and the fishing was great. Streams were up but clear.
