Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Upgrading vise

The only reason I had reason to send mine back was for sticky jaws. I spoke to them at Somerset. Their advice was WD40. It worked. I too have a few tiny chips. Mine haven't warranted a tune up. Give them a call. Their customer service is quite knowledgeable.

Has anyone sent a Regal head back for jaw replacement?  Mine is 20 years old and there are a few chips and I thought I would send it back for the $50 to get the jaws replaced.  The chips aren't bad (although it makes holding size 22's a bit difficult).  I'm wondering if I'm going to regret it, and if the new jaws are going to be weaker.

My production vise is a Regal and I love it - have a number of accessories
including the tube head and the LIRS #3 head for salt water work.  Their
folks in Loveland, Colorado are great to work with.  My travel vise is a
Renzetti Traveler and it has been flawless - a little smaller than the Peak,
but solid as a rock.
You can't wrong with either.  Have never used a Regal.

It has come time for me to move on from my vintage Thompson model a to
something a bit more versatile. I'm choosing between the Renzetti Traveler,
Peak Rotary and Refal Medallion Rotary. Found them all for within the same
price point, give or take 10 bucks.

For those with experience of the three, I'd really appreciate any
advice/feedback.

Best,
