I did the same thing as Art.... most the time I don't even get questioned but one time i did and it went like this
TSA: what's in the case
me: fly fishing rods and tackle
TSA: I don't think those are allowed
me: I believe they are, they are listed as such on your website (i started pulling the paper out)
TSA: oh ok your fine, I've never read those
kind of makes me question TSA haha

Here is a trick that I learnd from Dan Davala. Print the TSA fishing tackle policy from the airports website and bring it with you. I did that this year flying into Spokane WA. The TSA agent asked to open my rod case and when he saw all the hooks he got a supervisor. I handed the supervisor the policy and then he said "thank you for your patience sir" and let me go with no hassle.Art
