I hear that all the time but I don't understand it.  How does surface wave activity pushing a floating line around not exist subsurface pushing an intermediate around?  The difference seems to be that once the intermediate/sinker sinks, you have no control. 

I have a couple of good intermediate lines and would prefer to get more use out of them, so it's not that I object to non-floaters.  The last time I used one I was either in the sand, or snagging horseshoe crabs (literally!)
