Rod weight is important but also think about how the rod flexes:  tip, mid or full flex changes how it throws flies

I agree with Jeff and Gene, I think a 5 or 6 is more useful and easier to toss larger streamers.

Of course you could get obnoxious with this if taken to extreme.....like
