Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} C&O Carp

Mark, I feel your pain. It took me a while to get dialed in. Next time you're out there, try using the smallest strike indicator you can. It made a world of difference detecting the strikes in murky water. You just need to be extra careful about spooking the fish while using it, though.

As far as wading, I've seen people do it, but that doesn't mean it's legal. I believe it falls under the same issue as we learned about with the Gravelly Point Saga of 2013. From the bank there, I've seen a few pig largemouth and smallmouth cruising, so I've been telling myself one of these days I might just risk the ticket when the water level is low.

Finally, the picture you attached appears to be a Blacknose Dace.

Out this morning on the Canal targeting carp. Got many looks and near takes, but found it very frustrating to time the hook set. Murkiness of water doesn't help.  High stick nymphing is less frustrating. ;-) What's the scoop on fishing the river between Locks 7 and 8? It that a "wading verboten" stretch?

And what's the species ID for the attached photo?
