{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: NY trout float/guide trip suggestions

I've floated the delaware a couple times and my honest opinion is it is not really worth it.  It is a nice way to see the whole river, but is not necessary to catch fish.  Its something to do, but I've caught more fish wading.  I would suggest looking into renting a canoe or even raft and floating it on your own as it is a very easy float and will do the trick of getting you to places less accesible by road and get you through the long stretches of dead water that are very prevelant on that river (particularly the mainstem).

Note that the west branch has really become a zoo and the east branch is heading that way.

What's up everyone,

Hope you enjoyed the nice weather this weekend, although not much fishable water around.

But my dad's birthday is at the end of the month, and we normally take at least one guided trip a year to unfamiliar trout fishing territories.  We did some central PA locations last year (parents live outside Philadelphia), but I was thinking about hitting NY this year and maybe fishing the branches of the Delaware.  I know there are a TON of options in NY, so wanted to see if anyone had any experience/ advice on water, guides, etc.  We'll probably do 2 guided days of fishing, and as I said I was thinking about trying a float trip since we've never done one before (wouldn't mind doing 1 float day, 1 wade day).  I'm also not sold on the Delaware, I know there's so many more options.  We'll probably do it sometime in the late spring/early summer provided we can book at that time. Lastly, was hoping for <4 hour drive from Philadelphia area, but flying is always an option.

Any and all ideas welcome.  Thanks!
