{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Project Healing Waters

As many readers of this forum know, Dan Davala is coordinating and Orvis is sponsoring, a fly tying marathon at Whitlows in Arlington on March 22.  Many of you have already responded positively to attending this event.  The beneficiary of your flies will be Project Healing Waters.  They will be distributed and used by wounded warriors and vets nationwide.  I hope many will attend and help this great cause.

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing is dedicated to helping the recovery of wounded warriors through teaching them all aspects of fly fishing.  We teach fly casting, tying, rod building, and etymology, and take them on numerous outings.  Yesterday the Walter Reed Chapter went to Luigi and Mary Perini’s lovely home on Beaver Creek, MD for a day of rod building.  We worked with master rod builders Tom Smithwick, John Brognard, SFC Walter Greene-Morse (USA ret.) and others to teach the warriors.  All completed or nearly completed their rods.  It was a great day of camaraderie and recovery.  Kiki Galvin, local guide and friend to many of you, posted some wonderful pictures on her facebook page.  Have a look at this terrific day and please join us on March 22.

Thanks, Al
