Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} True Confessions: Found and lost in Weverton

I think we all have a story similar.  This past spring i took a plunge into Bull Pasture.  If it werent for a great coat and waders id of been frozen.  My 6 wt sunk in the river.  Luckily my dad was with me, tied on a huge streamer and eventually caught my rod.  We could just barely see the tip about 2 feet under water(in the middle of a 8 foot deep hole).  If he wasnt with me that trip id of lost the rod.

Thanks,

Dan Barrett

A few years back I really had to use the bathroom while in my kayak in the middle of a lake. Inevitably I dumped (the kayak) and sent my rod, prescription eyeglasses, phone, and wallet to the bottom of the lake.  I went back the next day with a snorkle and fins but couldn't find anything. I feel your pain, lots of good memories you made with that rod, but it's a great opportunity to buy some new gear!

Thanks. You got that right, Dallen. It was a tragi-comedy of errors. I also did a drive by and a little fishing at Snyders Landing just west of Sharpsburg. Nice placid moving water with fish and an excellent place to take out a kayak.  Just got to get past the wedding in October...and then get my own yak. ;-)

Sorry for your misadventure Mark. Almost sounds like an episode of 'This Happened To Me' in Outdoor Life magazine. I feel for ya. I've lost gear that had significant sentimental value and it still hurts to dwell on it. Glad you are okay. That's the main thing. I try to think of the possibility that larger calamities may be averted as a result of smaller misfortunes.
