Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Snakehead in Tidal Flow?

I ran into the biologists for virginia department of game and inland fisheries last summer and he told me that they "think" the snakeheads burry in to the mud and winter over.  However he said that is just the current theory.  Still trying to figure the fish out.

There are plenty of Snakeheads in Roaches Run all summer long, so if nothing else, they at least come through Gravelly twice a year, I imagine.

Does anyone have any insight on where they spend the winter?

I was at Gravely last fall and a spincaster was trailoring his bass boat.  Started talking, and he shows me a 25 or 30 inch snakehead that he took off a crankbait not too far off the point (to the south I believe, towards the airport).  So not exactly in Gravely Point, but not too far off either.

BTW, landing one of these guys (and eating him) is one of my top goals this spring/summer.

Has anyone caught or seen snakehead feeding in a tidal flow such as Gravely Point? From the little understand they seem to be more up in vegetation than in current.
Just curious as I think about fishing on another cold day. Come on spring!
