{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} FFI Demonstration Tier invite

I recent;ly received an email from FFI:

Fly Fishers International is hosting our first in-person event since 2019 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. FFI FlyFest will be held September 26th and 27th, 2025. We will have a demonstration tier area as well as a tying theater featuring some of the best fly tiers in the world.

We are extending an invitation to you as a current member of FFI to share your fly tying skills with others. We want to ensure that you are given the opportunity to tie at this event. Would you be willing to tie flies of your preference at FlyFest? Do you have a daughter/son/grandchild who ties? We are looking for tiers of all skill levels and all ages. Please consider joining us for this event as a demonstration tier.

Has anyone else received this invitation?

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} FFC Shad Report #5

I neglected to post the latest report here when it was emailed on Monday. American shad fishing was great Monday afternoon before muddy water arrived. River conditions are slightly improved today but recent storms upstream will bump the levels again by Saturday afternoon. Some schoolie stripers were caught this week.

Is this little hunting creek off the GW parkway?

If so the neighbors do not want you poking around looking for ramp access. I was able to gain access to a ramp but the combo was changed and I was never able to get an update. Full of snakehead and gar there now.

Your best option is to lower a pwc from the parking lot at riverside park.

There are two good access points. There's a parking lot at Catoctin Furnace on Catoctin Furnace Road (right turn off of Rt 15). From there the stream is in Cunningham Falls State Park for 0.8 miles until you hit private land. You can also park in the state park at the Manor Area lot (left off of Rt 15). There are spots by the stream if you drive down the hill past the visitor center/aviary. That's a few hundred yards upstream of Catoctin Furnace, but still well within the park. The upper limit of that public section isn't marked or posted so it's pretty easy to wander onto private land.

There's also another public section further upstream off Catoctin Hollow Road, which starts after the small bridge over the stream past Trout Run, but ownership and access is patchier up there.

I'm curious where you were when you were asked to leave.
