{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Potomac River Smallmouth Club September Meeting 9/28 (Wednesday)

Hello Everyone,

Potomac River Smallmouth Club meeting is at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 28th.  We will be meeting in-person at the McLean Government Center at 1437 Balls Hill Road in McLean, VA.  Yes, it's the police station.

Our topic this month is "Kayaks for freshwater fishing and tournaments."  You can hear me yap about my very basic off the shelf kayak for a few minutes before I hand it over to our after market customizing members.

Meeting is also going to be held over Zoom, reach out to me if you're interested and can't make it in person.

Thanks,
Herman

Great question - following! That Loch Raven boat deal is a steal! You can't rent a boat of any kind with a motor on it for less than $200 back in my hometown.

Hello, has anyone fished Loch Raven from a boat recently? I have a free day this week and am tempted to rent a boat and fish for largemouth in the reservoir.

If Loch Ness isn't worth the effort, are there other fishable lakes nearby (within two hours of DC) for bass? I've done two floats out of Harper's Ferry this summer with White Fly Outfitters and would like to get some more bass fishing in before the weather cools further. Thanks for any tips,

Also I'm in the middle of DC near the Zoo if that is nearby to anyone planning on going who might have an empty seat.

Anyone interested in a Gunpowder carpool?

I'm pretty new to the area and don't have a car but would love to meet some fishing buddies and explore some new water. Could I catch a ride with anyone? I'll pitch for gas snacks and flies and I'm all up to date with covid vaccinations and boosters.

Only 7 days more -- Come join TPFR on the Gunpowder River for the 2nd Annual Fall Fishing Meetup

When:     Sunday September 25th   8 am until whenever
Where:    Gunpowder Falls – Masemore Road access point - See attachment for details and directions.

Fly fishers of the Tidal Potomac variety – we're going fishing on the Gunpowder again!

This is the same event that you have previously read about and/or attended from last September on the water with TPFR.  This was successful enough that we've decided to make this the 2nd Annual Fall Fishing Meetup.

The Gunpowder Fishing Day will be free form - show up, meet folks, chew the fat, go fish, and relax amidst the beautiful surroundings of the Gunpowder.  If you arrive before 10am, some of the other usual suspects from the Sunday Casting Church will be on hand to help.   We will also have a few anglers that are more knowledgeable about the Gunpowder River at the event to help folks that are new to this location or would like to improve their knowledge about this river.

If you haven't been to the Gunpowder, this will be a fun way to fish this tailwater of the Pretty Boy Reservoir, just north of Baltimore and put some of those casting skills to use.

For more information and detailed directions, see the attached PDF.  For more about  about Gunpowder Falls see this MD site.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.
