Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} SpinCast & Fly Fish Spots

Small pond just off 495/50.

Space to cast and bluegill to catch.

Adjacent to Marriott Falls Church Fairview Park.

Any good recommendations for local lakes or rivers to take my son fishing for an hour or two with a spin cast rod?  I live in McLean area so looking for something within 30-45 min ideally.   Really just want to catching anything.  Will be bringing my fly rod with some streamers to see what I can catch as well.  My usual spot is 4MR but looking for some alternatives.  Thanks for any advice!

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} CASTING CHURCH - Sun 11 Sep

Second Sunday of the month coming up, and so we will have our casting get together on Sunday, 11 September at Fletcher's Cove from 8am to 11am.

This Church will be free form, just working on whatever people would like.

Additionally, we will work on FFI Casting Skills challenges for anyone interested.

Come on out, whether you are a novice, intermediate, or advanced caster, it is all fun to work on solving casting problems and casting challenges, particularly for shad.
If you are just getting started, this is a great way to meet people who can help.  There will be casting instructors on hand.
If you are preparing for an upcoming trip and looking to re-fresh your casting skills, this is a great opportunity.

And yes, I will be there.   Regan

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Rehobeth salt water early october

Capt. Chris Cook (firstlightcharters.net) - I fished with him in 2020. He's got several different trip types, the one I did was an evening/night trip, 3 hours or so, focused on the outgoing tide at Indian River Inlet. Caught a ton of schoolie stripers, small bluefish, and weirdly, a couple of hickory shad. No big fish, but it was fast action, lots of fun.

Lew's guides out of ocean city. You may want to give him a shout. He's well known on the Chesapeake as well -he used to keep a 23 parker at Crab Alley on Kent Island.

Let me know what you find out.
Best,
Brian
