{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} December Casting Church

Hey everyone,
We will be holding our Monthly Casting Church at Fletchers Boathouse on Sunday December 8th from 8am to 11am.

For those of you who don't know, Casting Church is free and designed to help members hone their casting skills , or introduce people to the sport altogether. Some of the most experienced instructors In the area volunteer their time each month!

Whether your a very experienced caster looking to take your casting to the next level , or its your first time out, we've got room for you. We meet at Fletcher's Boat House in D.C at the back of the lower parking lot.

Any instructors out there who would be willing to help are most welcome! Beginners are also always welcome. Don't worry If you don't have a rod I always have a few extra!

In addition to our single hand instructors, Regan B. will be there teaching all things Spey!

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Naples, FL

Hi all,

I will be heading to Naples for a few days in January and will be fishing a bit with my dad. Seeking some DIY fishing spots - unlikely to have any watercraft other than maybe a rental kayak if we decide to try that. Not picky about the species or size of fish - we just want to catch something.

In the past we've had decent luck in SWFL at night around culverts or bridge lights but that was not in the Naples area. We'd be really interested in trying similar spots if there are any.

Open to any and all suggestions! Thanks.

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Belize for Christmas

I have both, a pair wading boots and a pair of water shoes. I can't recall which I brought on my trip last year, but the bottom isn't very bad at all. My least favorite things are sea urchins, and thankfully they were pretty scarce from what I saw.

If you go with water shoes, just move slowly and intentionally with your steps. If it looks weird, avoid it.

You should also call down to the folks at Tres Pescados, they're incredibly helpful. I'd also recommend stopping in their shop to pick up some flies. They sell a couple different shrimp patterns with a flash of orange, those were absolutely killer. Size 8 crazy Charlie's or Gotchas, you can't go wrong.
